Social insurance system in Vietnam

Social insurance system in Vietnam aims to secure basic economic security in different life situations. Similar to other social insurance system, when having social insurance, we will get the support in various situations: retirement, illness, incapacity for work, unemployment, childbirth, or studies.

Social insurance covers employee benefits including sick leave, maternity leave, allowances for work-related accidents and occupational diseases, pension allowance, and mortality allowance. Health insurance entitles employees to a medical examination and inpatient and outpatient treatments at authorized medical establishments.

Applying the digitalization to Vietnamese social insurance system, currently the unemployment financial supports and pension are paying via digital wallet, users can easily check and follow their own status on mobile application. Combining with that, the healthcare tracking is also available on mobile devices, in which the vaccinations status, heath checkup results, pregnancy updates are all accessible online. During the COVID time, I used the digital application mostly to book and track my COVID vaccinations. However, the digitalization in social and healthcare system in Vietnam is still in the transferring phase. There are still a lot of improvements and fixings needed to update. The elders in Vietnam, who are not familiar with the digitalization still choose the old-fashioned way to take advantages of their social insurance. On the other hand, only the youth, who are already familiar with internet are ready to try the changes. This creates asynchronous in the controlling system and prevent the development and applications of new technologies.

Digital shops – Zalando

Thanks to the development of digitalization and its supportive technologies on the logistic, my shopping behavior has switched to mostly online. I can easily put an order, receive goods within few working days and return easily by post pick up. Mentioning about that, I am an usual customer of Zalando – an online shopping platform with good feedback and reputation in Finland. My own criteria to evaluate the reliable level of Zalando is based on its payment method, return policy, customer support and feedback. However, I also use my own experience to assess. Comparing with local shop, Zalando clearly has more advantages in promotions and campaigns from brands, consequently, the price on Zalando is more competitive to the market. The delivery time is prompt and I can choose my suitable time to receive good. Otherwise, the returning policy is very easy to follow and they also have policy to protect customers data. All in all, my experience with Zalando is still good and I definitely with continue using their service.

Terveystalo

Besides the social insurance, I also have private insurance from my employer, in which I am currently using Terveystalo service. I have really good experience with their mobile application and service. In the mobile application, I can find mostly all of the information regarding to my healthcare, laboratory results, doctor visit summary, prescriptions and payments. All of historical data is stored and can be found easily when needed. Together with that, the prescription works well in tracking my historical treatment. Whenever I need to see doctor, I can directly book an onsite or online meeting on the mobile application with some simple manipulations. The function I like the most about Terveystalo service is their remore service on app, I can reach to the doctor online 24/7, contact them via phone or messages in any urgent cases. I believe that this is a good example of Digital Health and Wellness in nine themes of Digital citizenship.

Digital gap

Digitalization is developing in a rapid speed that obviously will create a gap between users. Some group of people could be left out of some digital service as lacking of training and knowledge regarding to the changes. Mostly digital users have gained experiences in digitalization by themselves and not everyone has the possibility to access tools of digitalization such as computer or smart phone. In some aspects, some still decide to choose onsite service instead of virtual one because of their familiar with the old system However, this digital gap can lead to a deprivation of equality. People are not served with the same service and application of new technologies could not be utilized.
